My 50 Before 50 Life List
I think it's obvious at this point that I like lists a lot. And why not?
It's fun to make lists of things I love. Lists of happy memories. Lists of experiences I hold dear. Lists of my loved ones' birthdays.
And, of course, I like making lists of things I would like to do. Apparently, there's a study claiming that when we write down a goal by hand we are 42% more likely to achieve it.
Also, a life list created with a time constraint gives us extra incentive to make our dreams happen.
This is why I made a 30 before 30 list in my last few years of my 20s.
It pushed me to do things I have always wanted to do. There is nothing special about the age milestone. It's simply a means of motivating myself.
The plan to do a whole list of things eventually is all too easy to keep putting off until someday. But my short term lists keep me on track to meet my goals.
Giving myself a specific but realistic timeline is how I marry my dream life with my real life.
I have seen firsthand how this approach makes my perception of time slow down and and enables me to savor my life.
Anyway, it has worked great so far in life. So here are 50 things I would like to do before I turned 50.
