A Parent's Bucket List
Becoming a parent is one of the best things that has ever happened to me.
I wasn't waiting around for my life to begin when I had kids. I loved my life before and I love my life now when it looks so different than before.
Of course, life doesn't end when you have kids either. I know that. Yet, it feels like a lot more work to do things I enjoy apart from my kids.
I have so many dreams, so many things I want to do. It's almost as though I want to have kids and not have kids at the same time.
Neither lifestyle is better, but I obviously can't have both.
I want to experience new things often, which becomes more difficult as you grow even if you don't have a family of your own. With time and experience, the extraordinary becomes commonplace.
Then I realized that one of the main reasons I love being a mom is because I get to experience childhood all over again.
Yes, I have to be the responsible one now, but it's so cool to see the world through my kids' eyes.
That's when I got the idea to compose a Parent's Bucket List!
It's a list of things I would like to do with each of my kids. Many are experiences I have already had on my own, but how great will it be to take my daughter to her first concert? How cool will it be to take my sons rock climbing?
I even loved taking my oldest to the movies for his first time. I liked watching him more than watching the movie.
I relish the idea of taking my kids to Hawaii. I've been there before, but never with them!
The possibilities are endless and I love seeking them alongside my children!
Having little ones is not easy and embracing the concept of a parent's bucket list is helping me to remember how blessed I am to be mom.
I'm not going to wait until my kids are grown to start living again.
There are many things I still want to experience outside parenthood, but I don't want to overlook this beautiful season of raising my children.
I have included in my list some things that my six year old specifically told me he wants to do as well as some of my own ideas.
Don't let life end when you have kids. I hope you will find inspiration to make your own parent's bucket list as you read mine.
Enjoy!
