Should I Try 52 New Things In One Year?
I often plan my year in the spring when my birthday comes around. I am not quite a full year postpartum with my third baby. So, I thought to have a somewhat laid back year.
Then my curiosity peaked when I came across the idea to try something new every week for 52 weeks. This is a challenge I am not sure I want to undertake, but it is tempting.
For one thing, it would likely be an expensive year. It would also, probably interfere with my social life, not to mention my weekly routines as a mom of three littles.
It does seem less difficult than a one-month challenge with a new idea every day. Yet, I am still a little intimidated by the idea.
I guess 52 new things isn't that much more than 30 things, and 52 things stretched over 356 days does sound more doable.
The intention is to seek one new experience once a week on average. So theoretically, I could knock out two or three items on my list in one week.
If I was going to attempt this challenge, I would sit down with a calendar and plan as much as possible before starting. I would be hard pressed to arrange something new-to-me every single week.
Also, I wouldn't wait until January first to start because:
1. It's a terrible time of year to make goals.
2. Why wait?
Below are 52 ideas I came up with off the time of my head. I haven't done a single one of these before, but I would like to. So, hey, why not see if I can do it in a year? No one knows how much time they have left, right?
If I were to do it, I might modify the list as I go.
Maybe I will try to complete it all in the next 52 weeks. Maybe.
